Top 100 Pokemon (80-71)
Pokemon is the biggest, highest-grossing media franchise of all time. With a heavy presence in video games, anime, toys, merchandise and even film, Pokemon has become a household name. And this incredible brand recognition is due to the massive appeal of the many, many creatures that are introduced by The Pokemon Company every few years, constantly keeping the massive media franchise fresh, new and relevant.
But with the number of Pokemon currently at 809 and counting, which monsters are the best of the best? In this series of articles, we are going to narrow down these monsters to the Top 100 Pokemon, giving you some insight into who we believe are the best of the best.
In order to determine this, we collaborated between three of the Hub World’s authors: Giuliano, the Role-Playing Gamer; Matteo, The Banjo Believer; and Oshie, the Pokemon Trainer. Using a mixture of design, usefulness, icon value and sheer favouritism, we came up with the following Top 100.
80 – Sandslash
First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green
Sandslash, the Mouse Pokémon. The evolved form of Sandshrew. It attacks opponents with the quills on its back
79 – Xerneas
First Appearance: Pokemon X & Pokemon Y
Legends say Xerneas can share eternal life. It slept for a thousand years in the form of a tree before its revival.
78 – Vaporeon
First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green
Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. The composition of its cells is similar to molecules of water, and as such, can melt in water.
77 – Slaking
First Appearance: Pokemon Ruby & Pokemon Sapphire
Slaking, the Lazy Pokémon. Slaking lies down most of the time. It gets up and moves only when there is no more grass close by to eat.
76 – Luxray
First Appearance: Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl
Luxray, the Gleam Eyes Pokémon, and the evolved form of Luxio. Using the power to see through walls, Luxray can track down hidden opponents and even locate lost children.
75 – Crobat
First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver
Crobat, the evolved form of Golbat. With its two additional wings, Crobat is able to fly much faster than Golbat.
74 – Volcarona
First Appearance: Pokemon Black & Pokemon White
Volcarona, the Sun Pokémon and the evolved form of Larvesta. When ash from a volcanic eruption darkened the sky, it is said Volcarona’s fire replaced the sun.
73 – Zekrom
First Appearance: Pokemon Black & Pokemon White
This legendary Pokémon can scorch the world with lightning. It assists those who want to build an ideal world.
72 – Feraligatr
First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver
Feraligatr, the Big Jaw Pokémon. The final evolution of Totodile. Once a Feraligatr has clamped its powerful jaws around an opponent, it won’t let go until the opponent is defeated.
71 – Nidoking
First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green
Nidoking, the Drill Pokémon. Nidoking swings its large tail about to create distance, then charges in with the full force of its body behind it.
