Top 100 Pokemon (50-41)

Pokemon is the biggest, highest-grossing media franchise of all time. With a heavy presence in video games, anime, toys, merchandise and even film, Pokemon has become a household name. And this incredible brand recognition is due to the massive appeal of the many, many creatures that are introduced by The Pokemon Company every few years, constantly keeping the massive media franchise fresh, new and relevant.

But with the number of Pokemon currently at 809 and counting, which monsters are the best of the best? In this series of articles, we are going to narrow down these monsters to the Top 100 Pokemon, giving you some insight into who we believe are the best of the best.

In order to determine this, we collaborated between three of the Hub World’s authors: Giuliano, the Role-Playing Gamer; Matteo, The Banjo Believer; and Oshie, the Pokemon Trainer. Using a mixture of design, usefulness, icon value and sheer favouritism, we came up with the following Top 100.

 

50 – Magikarp

First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green

Magikarp, the Fish Pokémon. Because all Magikarp seem to do is splash around, some consider them weak, but they’re actually a hardy Pokémon that can survive in water no matter how dirty it is.

 

49 – Torchic

First Appearance: Pokemon Ruby & Pokemon Sapphire

Torchic sticks with its Trainer, following behind with unsteady steps. This Pokémon breathes fire of over 1,800 degrees F, including fireballs that leave the foe scorched black.

 

48 – Absol

First Appearance: Pokemon Ruby & Pokemon Sapphire

Absol, the Disaster Pokémon. Absol live in steep mountainous regions, and rarely venture down into areas inhabited by humans, but should an Absol be seen by humans, it is said that catastrophe is soon to follow.

 

47 – Scizor

First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver

Scizor, the Pincer Pokémon. It threatens enemies with its eye-patterned claws, which can swing with tremendous force when used in battle.

 

46 – Darkrai

First Appearance: Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl

Darkrai, the Pitch-Black Pokémon. Legend has it that on a moonless night, Darkrai will lure people to sleepand unleash nightmares upon them.

 

45 – Togepi

First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver

Togepi, the Egg Pokémon. It exhibits a low tolerance for hunger. It is able to communicate this condition in a very effective manner.

 

44 – Incineroar

First Appearance: Pokemon Sun & Pokemon Moon

Incineroar, the Heel Pokémon. A Fire and Dark type, and Litten’s final evolved form. Incineroar is capable of shooting fire from its midsection. A circle of fire wraps around its hips like a belt.

 

43 – Goomy

First Appearance: Pokemon X & Pokemon Y

Goomy, the Soft Tissue Pokémon, and the weakest of all Dragon-types. In order to keep its body moist, Goomy lives in places where it’s dark and damp.

 

42 – Weavile

First Appearance: Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl

Weavile, the Sharp Claw Pokémon. It signals its companions by using its claws to leave mysterious markings on the surfaces of trees and ice.

 

41 – Gliscor

First Appearance: Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl

Gliscor, the Fang Scorp Pokémon, and the evolved form of Gligar. It watches its prey as it hangs from trees by its tail and attacks from above when it sees the chance.
