Top 100 Pokemon (20-11)

Pokemon is the biggest, highest-grossing media franchise of all time. With a heavy presence in video games, anime, toys, merchandise and even film, Pokemon has become a household name. And this incredible brand recognition is due to the massive appeal of the many, many creatures that are introduced by The Pokemon Company every few years, constantly keeping the massive media franchise fresh, new and relevant.

But with the number of Pokemon currently at 809 and counting, which monsters are the best of the best? In this series of articles, we are going to narrow down these monsters to the Top 100 Pokemon, giving you some insight into who we believe are the best of the best.

In order to determine this, we collaborated between three of the Hub World’s authors: Giuliano, the Role-Playing Gamer; Matteo, The Banjo Believer; and Oshie, the Pokemon Trainer. Using a mixture of design, usefulness, icon value and sheer favouritism, we came up with the following Top 100.

 

20 – Alakazam

First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green

Alakazam, the Psi Pokémon, and the evolved form of Kadabra. With the brain like a super computer, it possesses many different supernatural powers.

 

19 – Ho-Oh

First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Sapphire

Ho-Oh’s feathers glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light. These feathers are said to bring happiness to the bearers. This Pokémon is said to live at the foot of a rainbow.

 

18 – Arcanine

First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green

Arcanine, the Legendary Pokémon. Arcanine runs so smoothly, it appears to be flying and is known for its majestic cry.

 

17 – Latios

First Appearance: Pokemon Ruby & Pokemon Sapphire

Latios, the Eon Pokémon. Latios is highly intelligent and can fly faster than a jet by tucking in its wings.

 

16 – Heracross

First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver

Heracross, the Single Horn Pokémon. Using the sharp claws on its feet, it generates enough power to throw its opponent with amazing force.

 

15 – Garchomp

First Appearance: Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl

Garchomp, the Mach Pokémon. When it folds up its body and spreads its wings, it can fly like a jet plane at the speed of sound.

 

14 – Sylveon

First Appearance: Pokemon X & Pokemon Y

Sylveon, the Intertwining Pokémon. Sylveon affectionately wraps its ribbon-like feelers around its Trainer’s arm as they walk together.

 

13 – Lugia

First Appearance: Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver

Lugia is so powerful even a light fluttering of its wings can blow apart houses. As a result, it chooses to live out of sight deep under the sea.

 

12 – Charmander

First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green

Charmander, the Lizard Pokémon. When the tip of Charmander’s tail burns brightly, that indicates it’s in good health.

 

11 – Squirtle

First Appearance: Pokemon Red & Pokemon Green

Squirtle. This Tiny Turtle Pokémon draws its long neck into its shell to launch incredible water attacks with amazing range and accuracy. The blasts can be quite powerful.
